UK ISP Plusnet Comes Top in Cable’s New Broadband Awards 2015

Tuesday, November 17th, 2015 (1:19 am) - Score 677
award golden cup for top broadband isp

Comparison site Cable.co.uk has announced the winners of their inaugural Broadband Awards 2015, which saw Plusnet grab more wins across different categories than any other ISP. But there were also some wins in different areas for Virgin Media, Sky Broadband, Zen Internet and a few other providers.

Most of the awards were chosen by Cable.co.uk itself, although to balance that out they also included a number of awards that were chosen via a survey of 6,000 broadband consumers in the United Kingdom and this is where most of Plusnet’s wins were secured. It’s worth pointing out that TalkTalk was ranked bottom for almost all of the reader choice awards.

Sadly we don’t get a clear statistical breakdown of the results or much context on how some of the awards were chosen, but here’s a brief summary of the primary results.

I’m sure I’m not the first to say: What?

    Plusnet:
    Long support queues.
    Bad ordering system.
    Gateway issues.
    Dns issues.

How did they get any of those awards?

      Right with you their…

Gzero I have to agree with you, Plusnet are never going to be able to provide broadband adequate enough so that you can download whatever Pornographic film you fancy whilst playing Xbox and watching Star Wars in your bedroom at your mum and dads house.

Must be that for the vast majority of users “it simply works fine”.

Certainly for the last 12.5 years since I first joined them, I’ve had pretty positive experience (only time not using them was when I moved and had no landline for a while).

I am still using them and happy with them as I type. Trying to stream Twit.TV live tonight was hopeless on my second line (TalkTalk network sold under The Post Office branding) but switched to Plus.Net and streamed fine as always.

(One line is fixed IP, other is dynamic, and unlimited data on mobile [with tethering] as a backup.)

      ADSL or Fibre?

    • Avatar Web Dude

ADSL for both. Fibre as late coming and limited to under 38 Mbps. Cabinet visible from back window (40 feet away) serves others, stimate is double, but Openreach policy suggests no chance. May have to get a street address on main road to be served by that cabinet, and have a 20 foot container in back garden as ‘office’ 🙂

    Plus Net

Bad customer service, that is if you can get through are prepared to spend an hour just to get the phone answered.
Life chat…What a joke all their staff must be dead.. Sit there waiting for a reply to watch the numbers of people in front of you go up.
    Poor service.
Poor internet upload speeds which are not informed of… This is how they reduce their costs..

    Could go on and on….

Choose them if you want bad service and broadband!!!!
