The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has tonight revealed the winners of their 27th annual 2025 internet industry and broadband awards. The night’s biggest winners included CommunityFibre, Lightning Fibre, and Wightfibre, each of which took home multiple awards. The former CEO of CityFibre, Greg Mesch, was also named ‘Internet Hero‘.

Hampshire-based alternative broadband network and UK ISP toob, which has deployed a full fibre (FTTP) network across parts of South England and also harnesses CityFibre’s network in other areas, have today announced that they’ve won two awards at the North East Contact Centre Awards (NECCA) 2025.

Ofcom has today published their latest quarterly Q2 2025 study of UK consumer telecoms and TV complaints, which names EE as attracting the most gripes from customers for fixed broadband and Pay TV services, while Three UK took the most flak for Mobile services.

A new study from SignalTracker, which runs a popular Android mobile app (not iOS) for monitoring and testing mobile network performance, has compared the 5G mobile (mobile broadband) performance (speeds, coverage etc.) in India against the UK, Greece, Spain and Finland.

Some of the winners include bOnline, 8×8, and Yealink.

The annual Connected Britain Awards 2025 (Total Telecom) took place this week, which among other things saw alternative full fibre ISP Lightning Fibre scoop the coveted “Broadband Provider of the Year” award, while Openreach won the “Access Innovation Award” and Fibrus was handed the “Project Rollout Award“.

A new study from SignalTracker, which runs a popular Android mobile app (not iOS) for monitoring and examining mobile network performance, has revealed the results of a study into the speed differences between the UK’s primary mobile operators (MNO) and their virtual operator (MVNO) siblings. Unsurprisingly, EE, Vodafone, Three UK and O2 outperformed mvnos.

Consumer magazine Which? has today teamed up with crowdsourced network benchmarking firm Opensignal to produce a new UK map of mobile network quality. The map uses real-world data to create a percentage score for how consistent the signal is in each postcode area in the year to August 2025 – split by EE, O2, Three UK and Vodafone.

Mobile benchmarking firm RootMetrics (Ookla) has today published their H1 2025 study of UK mobile networks (calls, texts etc.) and 4G/5G mobile broadband speeds. The results once again name EE as the best mobile provider after they scooped up the highest scores and fastest data speeds across most categories.

Ofcom have today published their latest quarterly (Q1 2025) study of UK consumer telecoms complaints, which names TalkTalk as attracting the most negative feedback from customers for fixed broadband, while O2 took the most heat for Mobile and Virgin Media were put on the naughty step for Pay TV services.

A new survey of broadband ISPs by Telegraph readers has handed out awards across several categories to Sky Broadband, EE and Plusnet, with the latter scooping wins across three categories. But neither BT, Vodafone, Virgin Media nor TalkTalk were deemed good enough to win anything, which is despite Virgin technically being the fastest provider.

The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has this morning revealed the shortlist of finalists for their 2025 annual industry awards event, which sees a record of 50 separate organisations (broadband ISPs, network builders etc.) being nominated across 17 categories. Except the “Internet Hero” and “Digital Inclusion” categories, which will be announced later this year.

The UK communications regulator, Ofcom, has today published their 2025 Mobile Matters report, which uses Opensignal’s crowdsourced data (collected between October 2024 and March 2025) to benchmark the performance of UK mobile broadband networks by both technology (2G to 5G), nation and operator choice – including Three UK, O2, Vodafone and EE.

Consumer magazine Which? has this morning named the winners of their Shoddy Awards 2025, which lists the companies that have done poorly through the year. The bad news is that broadband ISP Virgin Media was awarded a Shoddy for the third year running due to poor ratings and price rises, while EE picked up an award for its mid-contract price rises on mobile bundles.

Network benchmarking firm Ookla, which collects data from consumers via their popular broadband Speedtest.net website and App, have published the results of their Q1-Q2 2025 study into the video streaming performance of 5G mobile networks and awarded Vodafone the best on a score of 85.29 out of 100. But none of the operators performed particularly poorly.

Network testing firm Ookla, which collects data from consumers via their popular broadband Speedtest.net service, has published their Q1-Q2 2025 (H1) study into the speed of 5G based mobile broadband networks across the United Kingdom. The results reveal that Three UK continues to hold the top spot, followed by merger partner Vodafone.
