Ho ho ho it’s that time of year again, Christmas once more. Festivities galore. As usual we’ll be joining millions of others by taking a few days break to gobble turkey, “sip” a little brandy and maybe suffer one of those infuriating shopping queues with repetitive “festive” songs.
In case you didn’t know, Boxing Day this year technically falls on Saturday and so the Government has declared both tomorrow (Christmas Day) and the following Monday (28th Dec) to be bank holidays. During this period we’ll be spending most of our time with family, although there may still be the occasional update and normal site maintenance will continue.

At this point we’d also like to remind visitors that some ISPs can be a little short staffed over the holiday period, which may slow response times and also means that new installs often get delayed for a little longer. Internet performance may also suffer a mild hit due to people trying out new gadgets and going online more from home.
It’s also a well-known fact that some Christmas Tree Lights can cause interference for copper line broadband services (e.g. ADSL and FTTC/VDSL), which if you’re not careful might impact your connection stability. So try to keep the lights well away from your router.
Speaking of which, the team at Andrews and Arnold (AAISP) have put together a parody of the famous Clement Clarke Moore poem, “Twas The Night Before Christmas“, that focuses on the same xmas lights problem (see below). Otherwise.. we wish all of our readers a very happy holiday season and a Merry Christmas!
