Internet provider Quickline, which offers a fixed wireless broadband service to homes and businesses in a number of UK regions, has signed a new deal to make use of MS3‘s dark fibre optic network in Hull (East Yorkshire, England) that should help to boost their service speeds at strategic locations.
The long-term contract will also see Quickline take rack space in one of MS3’s new colocation suites at Owen House. Residential customers of the wireless service typically receive an unlimited usage allowance via a hefty 24 month contract term, with prices starting at £29.99 per month for a 10Mbps connection and rising to £59.99 if you want 50Mbps.
Tony Hales, MS3 Managing Director, said:
“We are thrilled to be able to support Quickline by offering our services. I firmly believe that Hull’s independent networks should be working together to benefit local businesses and residents alike and I’m confident this partnership will do just that.
There are only 2 companies in Hull who are able to offer a route in or out of Hull via fibre and that’s ourselves and the incumbent operator KC, when Steve told us what he was looking to do it made great commercial sense for all involved.”
Steve Jagger, Quickline’s Managing Director, said:
“I am delighted to be working in partnership with MS3 as together we are stronger which benefits our business and our customers alike. As a company we are seeing significant changes in the way that people want to receive their broadband service and we can now provide access to a viable alternative broadband provider in Hull.”
The other alternative fibre optic infrastructure provider being referenced above is of course Cityfibre, which also has an arrangement with MS3 (details here and here). Meanwhile KC (KCOM Group) is separately the local incumbent operator and sadly they maintain a much tighter grip on their network.
