Site Status – UK ISP Listings Database Update

Just a quick note to say that we’ve finished another full update sweep of our UK ISP Listings database, which is performed every few months to ensure that all our prices and information are up-to-date (i.e. many smaller ISPs don’t keep us up-to-date, so we have to check hundreds of records manually).

As usual a number of defunct ISPs were removed in this update (e.g. Allpay, Click4Internet, Coms etc.) because they no longer exist or have merged into another business. Likewise we’ve also added a bunch of providers, such as RuralTech Cloud, SimplyWiSP and a few others.

We’ve also added a new tag to our fixed line superfast broadband ISP listings, which allows us to say whether a provider’s UK network offers Significant National Coverage (e.g. BT, Virgin Media etc.), Patchy National Coverage or Niche / Area Specific (e.g. location specific altnets). This is really just a simple experiment and will be expanded upon in the future via new sorting options (at present it only shows on individual ISP detail pages).

We have a number of further changes planned for the ISP Listings system in the New Year, which should make it easier to compare providers by cost structure, but these still require some development.
