Customers of TalkTalk’s home Internet access packages may like to know that the ISP is now supplying their fastest “Super Router” (Huawei HG633) connection hardware with all new broadband packages “at no extra cost“, not just on their “fibre broadband” or Plus TV options.
The dual-band Super Router itself, which was first launched in 2014 (full details), claims to offer the “UK’s fastest, next generation Wi-Fi technology“, which is a veiled reference to its support for the now common 802.11ac WiFi spec with beamforming (most modern routers are now adding this).

So far as bundled ISP routers go the Super Router is definitely one of the better options, although it’s easy enough to find faster kit if you opt for a third-party device at cost. On top of that TalkTalk were perhaps a little sneaky last year when they changed the Super Router from using the Huawei HG635, which had Gigabit LAN ports, to the HG633 that only has 100Mb ports (here).
We’ll finish up with a copy of the latest “Testronics independent test results“, which last year compared TalkTalk’s Super Router with some of the others from rival ISPs. Mind you some of those ISPs, such as Virgin Media and Sky Broadband, are about to launch new routers of their own.
UPDATE 19th Jan 2016:
Added a new picture of the HG633 (old one was of the HG635).
