New and upgrading 4G customers of EE’s Pay Monthly mobile plans (both SIM-Only and those with a bundled iOS (Apple) or Android handset) will soon also be able to benefit from 6 months of free Apple Music membership. The service will of course also work on iPad, Apple TV, Mac and PC.
The new offer will go live from 1st September 2016. Customers will then have full access to Apple Music and can either stream their favourite songs over 4G or WiFi, or download for off-line playback. According to EE, customers will also be able to cancel their Apple Music service at any time, which is good because after the first six months the price jumps from £0 to £9.99 per month (£4.99 for students or £14.99 for family membership).
However it’s important to point out that the free offer does not apply to your data usage, which means that using Apple Music will still eat into your Mobile Broadband allowance. Admittedly music streaming isn’t on the same scale of data hoggery as video streaming, but if you use it a lot then it could still become a problem. But EE does pledge to warn subscribers if they’re likely to exceed the data cap.
On the other hand if you fancy becoming stuck in a perpetual cringe cycle..
