Alternative network provider WarwickNet (CableCom) has appointed a new Director of Sales, James Warner, to help oversee a major expansion of their broadband coverage. Over the next 12-18 months the ISP hopes to grow its footprint from 180 to 750 UK sites (e.g. business parks).
The ISP specialises in connecting businesses via a choice of different connectivity methods, such as Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC / VDSL2) and Fibre-to-the-Premise (FTTP) based broadband services or dedicated Gigabit Leased Lines (Ethernet). A lot of their network is built using Openreach’s (BT) Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) product, which allows rivals to setup their own infrastructure by harnessing the national operator’s existing cable ducts etc.
Since 2011, WarwickNet has transformed its customer base from just 36 businesses to over 1,500, connecting more than 180 sites across the Midlands, Surrey and Berkshire. On top of that James is already planning to open-up their infrastructure to wholesale so that other ISP’s and ICT resellers can offer services via their network. The provider also hopes to cater for multi-site businesses on a national scale.
James Warner said:
“Having worked for a business the size of KCOM, I can help us ensure we don’t fall into the trap of trying to be too big, too soon. It’s about the balance between small and big business, and applying those principles to a business which is slightly earlier on in its journey.”
As hinted above, James is a former sales veteran from Eclipse Internet and KCOM.
