The broadband division of UK retailer John Lewis has announced a price cut to their “fibre broadband” (FTTC) and phone line rental bundles, which will last for the first 12 months of service and should be available to order until “at least” 3rd October 2017.

Subscribers can expect to receive a 12 month contract term, 24/7 UK based customer support, PC security from BullGuard, free UK evening and weekend phone calls + included line rental, unlimited usage and an included wireless router. Take note that if you need a brand new line installed then there’s a £49.99 one-off charge.

Unlimited Broadband and Phone
* Up to 17Mb Download Speed

PRICE: £22.50 a month for 12 months (£26.50 thereafter)

Unlimited Fibre Broadband and Phone
* Up to 38Mb Download Speed

PRICE: £30.00 a month for 12 months (£38 thereafter)

Unlimited Fibre Extra Broadband and Phone
* Up to 76Mb Download Speed

PRICE: £35.00 a month for 12 months (£43 thereafter)

We note that JLB appears to charge the same no matter where in the UK you live (this avoids the nasty rural vs urban price divide).

It’s not really a ground breaking cut. £1.50 off the top 80mbit package – less than 5%. Sadly the price of decent fibre broadband seems to be getting seriously steep.

sometimes it is best to shop around I am paying same for my FTTC today as I did when I was in contract that is about 4 years ago I went live. Others have had their prices increased mid contract or at end of contract where if you stayed after contract they should leave the price alone not increase it as you are being loyal to them.
