Alternative UK ISP Community Fibre appears to be extending their “full fibre” (FTTP/H) broadband network in the London Borough of Wandsworth to include local a business district, as well as council homes, which is being undertaken alongside the local authority, BIID, OLBC etc.
At present the provider is roughly half-way through their agreement to expand a 1Gbps FTTH service to cater for 20,000 council homes in the borough. Packages tend to start at just £20 per month for a 20Mbps (1Mbps upload) service and this rises to £50 for a fully symmetric 1000Mbps connection, which includes free installation and unlimited usage.
Perhaps inevitably the network is also now being expanded to cater for local businesses and in order to do that they’ll be introducing an additional top tier of 10Gbps (Gigabits per second). The current top 1Gbps business tier only costs £200 per month (cheap for a business solution), although we don’t believe that the 10Gbps tier will cost ten times as much (likely to be well below this).
Exact details are not yet confirmed, although we know that the target area suffers from a fair few Exchange Only Lines (EOL) and local businesses haven’t been universally happy with the alternative connectivity being provided by Virgin Media’s business division. A Service Level Agreement (SLA) may also be offered for a small premium with a short fix time.
More epensive than say VM but then more options
However – as the world does not seem to exist outside of London to these providers and because for sure Rootin Tootin Putin is about to nuke it – maybe they should re locate to a small yorkshire town near waddlesbeek?
