The Somerset-based CableCom Networking Group, which last year acquired alternative network ISP WarwickNet, has decided to re-brand itself under the name of ‘Glide‘ and to split their company into three areas for dealing with business connectivity, residential broadband and students.
In the last year, CableCom (now Glide) claims to have grown by over 25% and has generated more than £50m in annual revenue, which has enabled them to push further investment toward their fibre optic infrastructure. The company expects this growth to reach 30% year-on-year and they’re preparing to deploy an additional 500km of “full fibre” (FTTP, Leased Lines etc.) over the next 12-18 months.
Tim Pilcher, CEO of Glide, told ISPreview.co.uk:
“This is a significant step for Glide which proudly says to our customers we are specialists in your business and understand what you need to grow. We have an ever-increasing set of capability and fibre footprint which runs alongside a desire to make our customers lives easier.
By investing in our national infrastructure we’re keeping at the cutting edge of technological innovation. Whether it allows customers to enable smart multi-tenancy premises or future proof their business infrastructure, this is only the beginning and we’re really excited about where we’re heading.”
Under the new structure, Glide will be refocused as follows.

With unrivalled intelligence into the online behaviour of students, Glide will roll out its Home Network across halls of residence from September 2018 to allow seamless Wi-Fi connectivity with multiple devices. Additionally, Glide Group is developing IoT solutions to give landlords, and students alike, unrivalled insight into how utilities function across the building, eliminating waste and reducing running costs.
Glide Business
Gigabit-ready businesses across the UKGlide’s business arm has built its national reputation as an alternative fibre optic based broadband network provider (including FTTC, FTTP and Leased Lines) to UK business parks, industrial estates and multi-tenancy buildings. To date it has deployed over 1,400Km of its own fibre network with over 400 parks enabled and over 50,000 premises passed. The company recently surpassed expectations of the DCMS gigabit voucher scheme by confirming 67 per cent of vouchers in the pilot region of Coventry and Warwickshire, worth up to £3000 each for local businesses.
