Vaioni Aim to Become One of the UK’s Largest Ethernet Networks

Monday, Aug 13th, 2018 (11:40 am) - Score 2,299

Manchester-based ISP Vaioni Wholesale has announced a new “multi-million-pound” investment in its Ethernet Network (V.E.N), which they hope will enable them to build one of the “most powerful Software Defined Networks” in the United Kingdom. No sums were mentioned for the investment.

The V.E.N platform has been present in London, Manchester and Birmingham for a few years already, although it more recently expanded to cover a further 66 cities and towns via 96 exchanges and 180,000 postcodes throughout the UK.

The latest expansion being announced today should see them connect 170 cities and towns, which could put the network within reach of approximately 80% of UK businesses. On top of that Vaioni claims that their Core Network has boasted 100% uptime for the last 3 years and they’ve recently standardised 1Gb and 10Gb connections.

Sachin Vaish, MD of Vaioni Wholesale, said:

“Through understanding of the evolving demands from businesses and listening to our channel partners and the challenges that they face with their customers, we’ve continued in our multi-million-pound investment in V.E.N. to standardise on ultra-high bandwidth connections, incorporating intelligence and automation at the heart of the network.

Whilst traditional network operators focus on a one-dimensional strategy, Vaioni Wholesale has empowered its Channel Partners and their end-customers with control over the network, allowing changes and upgrades to take place instantly through a few clicks in an app, just like they can with their cloud applications and services with little to no technical expertise.”

As per usual this announcement is aimed more at SME or larger businesses that can afford to install such connectivity. Vaioni says their Ethernet and MPLS solutions also offer Adaptive QoS Profiles, Elastic Bandwidth (turning bandwidth up/down) Setting up Direct Peering, New Service Provision, Diagnostics and the ability to Reduce/Increase IP Addresses. Not to mention the usual Service Level Agreements (SLA).
