Cable ISP Virgin Media has announced that they’ve just completed an extension of their 500Mbps+ capable broadband and TV network to cover an additional 2,500 premises in the large village of Kiveton, which resides within the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham in South Yorkshire (England).
As usual the build forms part of their Project Lightning network expansion, which since 2015/16 has been working to extend their Hybrid Fibre Coax (HFC) and Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP / RFoG) based EuroDOCSIS network to an additional 3-4 million UK homes and businesses (so far they’ve completed over 1.7 million premises).
Hugh Woolford, VM’s Regional Director for North East and Yorkshire, said: “Completing our network expansion in Kiveton will give more than 2,000 residents and businesses access to the UK’s fastest widely available network. Our ultrafast broadband speeds will enable them to get on and do things more quickly and more easily.”
