ISP Glide Brings Gigabit Broadband to Rainham in Essex UK UPDATE

Business and residential ISP Glide, which has an ambition to cover 200,000 premises by the end of 2020 (mostly via fibre optic broadband solutions), has announced that it will be providing gigabit fibre connectivity to two business parks in Rainham, Essex.

Sadly Glide neglects to name the two business parks or mention precisely what technology will be deployed, but we are told that some or all of the funding for this work is coming from the Government’s £200m Rural Gigabit Connectivity (RGC) programme (we assume they mean the business vouchers, which are worth up to £3,500 per site and can be aggregated).

NOTE: Glide’s full fibre network already reaches over 100,000 UK premises (mostly student and built-to-rent accommodation, as well as shared HMO living and businesses).

Glide is currently active in parts of Essex, providing both copper and fibre services – however, some local businesses are in need of enhanced internet service provision, so the company has applied for government funding to offset the cost of installation on the new network.

Glide’s CTO, Richard Jeffares, said:

“Implemented correctly, this level of fibre connectivity has the ability to help rural businesses eliminate previously unreliable broadband networks, with increased productivity, security and resilience at the very heart of these efforts. Companies that have previously struggled to remain connected due to their geo-location have the power to assess their current approach to connectivity and utilise modern fibre networks to keep operating effectively, both now and in the future.”

End.

UPDATE 13th August 2020

Glide have informed us that they will be supplying symmetric FTTP to the following business parks: Ferry Lane Industrial Estate, Cold Harbour Lane Industrial Estate, The K9 Estate and Easter Industrial Estate. In addition, it will be supplying its full suite of competitive lease line options for up to 10Gbps.
