Cable ISP Virgin Media UK will today further discount their prices for new customers taking out their standalone ultrafast home broadband packages, which for example will see their entry-level 108Mbps (average speed) plan fall from £29 to just £24.99 per month for 18 months (£46 thereafter).
As usual this early Black Friday style promotion, which we think is due to go live after 6am this morning, is for new customers only and will run until 30th November 2020. Subscribers can expect to receive a Hub 3.0 wireless router (Hub 4.0 on 1Gig), an 18-month minimum contract term, unlimited usage, access to Virgin’s UK network of WiFi hotspots, internet security / parental controls and email.
We should add that each package also attracts a £35 one-off setup fee. Suffice to say that if you’re thinking about a change then the Black Friday period is often the best time to do it. But one big caveat of Virgin Media’s newly reduced prices is that at the same time they’ve also removed the bundled 4G SIM (5GB of data, unlimited texts and minutes) that can alongside their previous deal.

A £20 jump after 18 months is criminal, especially on the lowest tier, which some will see as very affordable, until they forget the price increase and are suddenly lumbered with paying almost double.
There is absolutely no need for it, none whatsoever.
Lock them up!
The lowest speed is 50Mb, not 100. Also it’s hard to forget as all new customers receive an end of contract notification anyway + their bill every month with the discount end date on it
