Wireless ISP Wifinity, which usually specialises in deploying WiFi style networks, has today acquired PCCW Global Networks (UK) Limited for an undisclosed sum, which is perhaps better known for operating under the broadband ISP brands of Mediaforce and Optify.
Both Mediaforce and Optify tend to use a mix of Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) and wireless network solutions to make superfast and gigabit-capable broadband services available to the public sector, students, military personnel and residential apartment blocks (MDUs) across different parts of the United Kingdom.
Suffice to say that the aforementioned focus is similar to the one that Wifinity currently adopts and today’s deal should thus serve to help grow their footprint.
Mark Parry, Wifinity’s CEO, told ISPreview.co.uk:
“Traditionally our business model has been built around organic growth and through innovation. Whilst innovation continues to be in our DNA, we are excited to be adding two new brands into our Group portfolio: Mediaforce, which focuses on the defence industry, and Optify, a well-established brand in the student and residential market. Wifinity is relatively new to the Student accommodation sector. So, this acquisition gives us an excellent springboard to accelerate our growth.”
End.
