Alternative UK network developer Broadway Partners (ISP Broadway Broadband) has today secured several contracts to deploy Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband networks to cover the rural Pembrokeshire communities of Angle, Tiers Cross and Lawrenny and Marletwy in Wales.
The latest wins form part of the Pembrokeshire County Council’s (PCC) wider Digital Connectivity Programme (DCP). The local authority previously worked with Broadway Partners to kick off a new pilot last year by deploying FTTP across several areas (here) – the first of those areas started to go live in January 2021 (here).
The contracts for the first Phase 2 areas were then awarded to both Broadway and Voneus (via Dyfed IT) back in March 2021 (here). Now today’s news represents the award for the next batch of Phase 3 areas, albeit not all of them (yet).

At this point in time, we don’t currently have any information on the deployment plan or timescales for the new areas, although Broadway said they’d aim to connect approximately 1,800 premises across their Phase 3 locations.
Michael Armitage, CEO of Broadway Partners, said:
“Our goal is to provide affordable, high speed broadband to digitally disadvantaged areas, particularly across Wales and Scotland. We are excited to have been selected to connect some of the more rural parts of Pembrokeshire, moving us one step closer to achieving our goal.
Government plans to help the nation access full fibre have shed a light on areas with little or no access to broadband and highlighted the importance of being connected. Pembrokeshire’s Digital Connectivity Programme has given us the opportunity to reach these communities and bridge the connectivity gap between rural and urban areas.”
End.
