UK ISP Virgin Media has informed us that they will today further discount the prices for new customers taking out one of their ultrafast broadband and phone packages, which for example will see their entry-level 108Mbps (average speed) plan fall from the previous offer of £34 to just £25 per month for 18 months (£51 thereafter).
The new promotion is set to be available to order until 30th June 2021. Subscribers can expect to receive a Hub 3.0 wireless router (Hub 4.0 on 1Gig), an 18-month minimum contract term, unlimited usage, access to Virgin’s UK network of WiFi hotspots, internet security / parental controls and email. You’ll also get a Virgin Phone Line with “free” UK weekend calls.
We should add that each package also attracts a £35 one-off setup fee (previously this was free, but the new monthly discounts more than make up for that reintroduction). At the time of writing their new pricing is not yet live, but we have added some direct links below for when it starts.

They will, of course, continue to treat existing customers with an increasing level of contempt and incompetent customer service advisors that will simply outright lie!
“This is the way”
Correct! I’ve moved to a home where they are effectively the only option. Got 213Mbps for £34.99 when I joined. My contract ended and I found an offer online for the same speed at I think £26 a month. They just kept insisting that it could only be done for £57 for existing customers. The have no loyalty to existing customers but they want loyalty from you!
Best use someone else in that case.
That’s all well and good Carl when you have no choice. Crappy over-contended 4G or crappy FTTC, or incompetent Virgin.
Thereafter….
Smacks of desperation. Wireless can be had for a fraction of even the discounted price. You can have my old modem if they ever bothered to collect it, after I quit 14 months ago. Cancel vm now on 0800 952 2277 on their retentions/cancellations dept which they lied didn’t exist anymore. Avoid vm like COVID
Virgin “Liberty Global” have finally finished digging up our paths to install their network. When this will go live is anyones guess. VDSL around here is absolutely awful, 15 down 4 up, we’re currently paying £24 a month for this & it constantly goes down. 4G exists here but that isn’t much better at 20mbps.
Shame there are no alternatives to these, the prices stink.
The fact there is no alternative is exactly the reason why the prices stink. Some people actually think the fact your area is cable will increase the likelihood of FTTP coming to your area quicker, I think its a pipe-dream at best, and considering the price of FTTP its not like it’d be doing you a favour anyway!
I wouldn’t never go to VM (badly congestion in my area and never get fixed) how do I know this? Because rumour talk in my area on fb that people’s are fed up with VM loss of broadband, low speed, high congestion ongoing. Price rises as well.
Glad I am with G.fast 160/30 rock stable!
