Contract-free mobile operator VOXI, which is the virtual operator sibling of Vodafone UK, has today begun offering customers the option of buying a cheaper “refurbished” smartphone alongside bundles with their various 4G and 5G capable mobile (mobile broadband) plans. The move will save consumers money and reduce electronic waste.
We should point out that all of the operator’s mobile plans are 5G-ready (at no extra cost) and come with unlimited calls and texts, which is on top of support for things like WiFi Calling, 4G Calling, EU Roaming (20GB fair usage data cap) and Visual Voicemail. Finally, they all include Endless Social Media (i.e. unlimited use of social media apps without eating into your data).
Otherwise, the main differentiator between the packages is the size of their data allowances and the optional addition of Endless Video (i.e. stream TikTok, YouTibe, Amazon Prime, Netflix, My5, TVPlayer, UKTV Play and Twisted Mirror TV without eating into your data). The top unlimited data plan is currently priced at £30 per month.

As for the new range of refurbished Smartphones, VOXI states that all of their devices are in a “like new” condition and come attached to a 12- month warranty, which should cover most repair fees, if they’re needed. A number of “introductory offers“, which are available until the 29th November 2021, have been launched alongside this:
Samsung Galaxy S21 5G 128GB
Brand New Price (£930) – Like New Price (£660)Apple iPhone 12 Mini 64GB
Brand New Price (£600) – Like New Price (£495)Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G 128GB
Brand New Price (£1140) – Like New Price (£600)
The above device costs can also be split out into monthly payments via the website (e.g. the iPhone 12 Mini is just £16.50 per month for 30 months) and then there’s the usual monthly mobile plans to add on top of that.
Scott Currie, Head of VOXI, said:
“I’m delighted that this month, through our partnership with Cool Earth, we’re giving our customers the opportunity to fund important environmental projects that will help prevent deforestation and make a real difference to the future of our planet. We’re also introducing refurbished phones – this not only offers great value, but extends the life of devices, reducing e-waste and helping us in our journey to create a zero-carbon future.”
As ever, the catch here is that you could always get the same mobiles for a similar or lower price via eBay, although they won’t always come with a 12-month warranty. At least when taken via VOXI you’d hopefully also have some confidence in the quality and authenticity of the device itself.
Separately, VOXI is partnering with rainforest charity, Cool Earth, as part of its commitment to tackle climate change and electronic waste. The operator’s reward scheme, VOXI Drop will donate over £60,000 to Cool Earth, to be spent on a variety of projects supporting biodiversity, people and trees. VOXI customers will be asked to choose which of these projects they would like the donation made on their behalf to support.

To get involved, VOXI customers need to log into their account, tap the VOXI Drop button, select the project they’d like to support and VOXI will donate £4 to it.
VOXI have also recently launched two factor authentication sign-in. Good news.
Although if you lose your phone, you presumably can’t now login to the Voxi account pages, as you wouldn’t get the text message through?
You can contact VOXI via their contact us on their website without logging in.
Wow!, ringing call centers and having to speak to people, how every quaint. I seem to remember my Granny telling me about that.
