Bristol-based ISP RunFibre, which recently started building their own gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across rural parts of South Gloucestershire in England, has begun to “ramp up” the rollout of their new network and now aim to make 3,500 properties Ready for Service (RFS) by March 2023.
At present RunFibre, which also sells broadband packages to consumers via CityFibre’s (Wolverhampton and Gloucester) and Openreach’s full fibre networks, is busy deploying their own network across a number of villages, such as Hawkesbury Upton, Inglestone Common and surrounding areas.
The operator was also recently awarded Code Powers by Ofcom, which should help to speed up the next phase of their build by reducing the number of licenses needed for street works and enabling them to run fibre via Openreach’s existing cable ducts and poles (if so required). Assuming all goes to plan, then they hope to have 3,500 premises covered by March 2023, including 1,000 customers connected (take-up of 28.57%).
