Network provider Freedom Fibre (FF), which is currently working to roll out a new 10Gbps capable FTTP broadband service – supported by investment from UK ISP partner TalkTalk – across semi-rural parts of North England, are today celebrating the successful connection of their 1,000th customer.
At present the operator, which is supported by a capital investment of around £30m, aims to reach 50,000 premises across the North West by summer 2022. Prior to that, they had also spoken of hitting 100,000 UK premises by the end of 2022, but we don’t know if that target still stands.
The network is currently being made available (Ready for Service) to the majority of homes in Culcheth, Croft, Glazebury, Winwick and Weaverham, which means that local residents can order up to 500Mbps packages through TalkTalk.

Marie Danby, Freedom Fibre’s Customer Operations Director, said:
“This is a significant milestone for Freedom Fibre as we push ahead with our network investment, providing connectivity residents and businesses can depend on.”
The rollout is also said to be “progressing well” into Leigh and Newton-Le-Willows while work in other areas, such as Stockton Heath, Whitchurch and their Head Office town of Irlam, are due to go live within the next three months. Further announcements will be published in the following weeks detailing more expansion into the North West.
Mine is being installed on the 1st June no brainer ff 500 first 6 months free then £20 a month For 12 months and it’s not a contract it’s an agreement so I can cancel if it’s bobbins
I’ve got a few friends that have Freedom Fibre FTTP in Culcheth, they love it, fast and reliable. I’ve had plenty of problems with my Openreach FTTP, wish I could get Freedom Fibre.
The only problem with FF is it’s a lazy way of distributing it as it’s all overground via telegraph poles
so new cables everywhere and then the fibre which is pin thin running down the house it should for me all be underground but hey ho
Getting 520 down and 540 up so happy days and free for 6 months then £20 a month no brainer
