Full Fibre UK ISP Trooli Grows Coverage to 220,000 Premises

Tuesday, May 31st, 2022 (10:54 am) - Score 2,920
Trooli-Office-Room

Broadband ISP Trooli has announced that their gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network, which aims to reach a “minimum” of 1 million UK premises by the end of 2024, has now covered 220,000 premises and they will soon extend into Dorset and Norfolk. The operator has also expanded into new headquarters.

The alternative network provider, which confirms that their staff count has also risen to more than 230 (up from 200 earlier this year), is presently rolling out their full fibre network across parts of Kent, East Sussex, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Hampshire and Suffolk in England. New locations in Dorset and Norfolk are expected to follow in the near future.

NOTE: Trooli aim to cover 400,000 premises in c.300 towns and villages by Dec 2022.

As a result of their growth, Trooli has now decided to relocate to a new suite of offices to house its rapidly-expanding workforce. The company’s new head office remains in Kings Hill (Kent) and they expect to increase the size of their workforce to 320 by the end of this year. In addition, the company has launched a new regional build office in Ipswich to complement one opened in Bracknell, Buckinghamshire, last year.

Andy Conibere, CEO of Trooli, said:

“This is a really exciting time for Trooli as demand for our Gigabit-capable service continues to rise above and beyond our expectations. Our new head office is a key and important step in our ability to build on our current success and to accelerate our roll-out plans even further and faster.

While the availability of full fibre broadband is growing in the UK, too many communities in rural areas still remain overlooked, and that is a gap we are committed to filling – while maintaining the excellent customer service and network reliability we are so proud of.”

So far the initial funding for Trooli’s deployment has included €30m from the Connecting Europe Broadband Fund (Cube Infrastructure Managers) and £5m from NatWest, which was given a huge boost last year by a new £67.5m debt facility agreement via a consortium of commercial lenders, facilitated by the CEBF (here).

However, Trooli is known to be working on a new equity sale process (here), which could potentially raise another £200m and enable them to target 2.1 million UK premises by the end of 2024.

UPDATE 11:31am

One of our readers spotted Trooli working in Ferndown, which we’ve confirmed, and this appears to be one of their first builds in Dorset.

That’s interesting about the Dorset expansion. They are currently shown on the Dorset Roadworks map as doing work in and around Ferndown. I was thinking that it was a mistake as they are in the same area that Giganet are currently working in. However, this could be the start of the move into Dorset.

So frustrating to see overbuild, Open Reach have also committed to rolling out more FTTP in Dorset no doubt they will build in Ferndown, when Colehill, Parts of West Moors, Three Legged Cross , have poor connectivity, they are bad enough for over building altnets, but the altnets also building over each other is pretty poor.
No wonder OpenReach and Ofcom are coming up with plans to take over altnet’s that fail when they over build each other like this. Why race to the bottom on price, when you can rollout in an area where there are hungry punters wanting better services

Giganet, Trooli and Box Broadband seem to be building around the same areas in West Sussex

they are nearby me in bracknell, but not serving bracknell but the surrounding areas – good for them!

also Mark, i was curious – what does the score on the top of the article mean and how is it calculated?

It’s a sampling of popularity, which gives me a very.. rough indication of how widely the article is spread and read based on several factors.

Same kind of comment as Andy.
Been tracking OR and alt nets for FTTP plans in Great Blakenham and until last month (haven’t checked since) my address was still part of the Project Gigabit plans.
Imagine my surprise to see a contractor on behalf of Trooli running FTTP outside my house last week. 2 days later I start to see the adverts on FB saying it’s coming to my area.
900/300Mbps for £68pm… take my money already!!!

Not far off being connected in Ringwood, Hampshire!

Can’t fault the service but the supplied router is pony. Annoying you can use your own equipment after the modem

Agree! Will probably switch to Gigaclear when my contract is up. They were the only guys installing near me, but seems we are up to 3 or 4 now

There are hacks available to extract your log in details so you can use your own modem/router.

Trooli have also recently announced expansion in several West Sussex villages including Henfield, Pulborough, Steyning, Storrington and Cowfold

Checking streetworks and bidb.uk, it looks like Trooli are now working in woolpit also.

Trooli have been busy laying in New Forest East for a while now (first appeared on one.network 6 months ago). Seen a few targeted adverts online saying its ready for sign up in my area, but put in my postcode and says not available?? Giganet are also laying (about a month or two behind) and seem to be better reviewed (none of this garbage about using your own router and 12 months free!). Just the wait now then good bye junk FTTC line. Can’t come soon enough.

I have just placed my order with Trooli in Corfe Mullen. Confirmed in chat that the infrastructure will be in place Mid-Sep, with my house going live at End September.
