Network builder FullFibre Limited, which is currently deploying their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network across numerous locations in England, has reached an agreement with the Fastershire programme that will see their rollout extend into rural parts of Herefordshire.
The operator, which deploys its network as a wholesale platform via Fibre Heroes for other ISPs to harness (i.e. consumers should visit that site to check coverage) and aims to reach “at least” 500,000 premises by 2025, initially started their rollout in another Fastershire project area – Leominster – during 2019. Since then, they’ve begun various builds in parts of Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and more.
By comparison, the latest collaboration with the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire focused Fastershire scheme will see their FTTP network being extended to cover the rural communities of Tretire and Three Ashes. This particular build will stretch over 20km and offer service to almost 500 premises, with the aim to complete within a year.
Gareth Yardley, Area General Manager, said:
“Expanding our reach to locations such as Tretire and Three Ashes in Herefordshire is a privilege for Fibre Heroes. We are committed and passionate about connecting rural areas and excited to bring ultrafast, FTTP broadband to these hamlets.”
In terms of pricing, the example ISP of Air Broadband, charges from £25 per month for their unlimited entry-level 110Mbps (15Mbps upload) package and that rises to £35 for their top 550Mbps (50Mbps upload) tier. The service claims to include a free router, “free installation” and an 18-month minimum contract term, but we note that in the small print there’s mention of a £40 activation fee and £6.50 router delivery charge.
