Shropshire-based UK ISP Aquiss has today reduced the standard monthly pricing on several of their Openreach based and higher speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband packages for families. Some packages, such as their top 1000Mbps (gigabit) tier, have seen prices fall by up to £10 per month.
All of their full fibre packages come with an unlimited download allowance, Standard Care, Static IPv4 and IPv6 (/56) addresses as standard, a 12-month contract term and free activation / installation. But one catch is that Aquiss don’t bundle a wireless router with their service, so you’ll need to use an existing router or pay extra for a new one.
In addition, the provider has retained their existing discount that further reduces the price of each package by 50% for the first 3 months of service. Aquiss offers a larger number of superfast, ultrafast and gigabit class packages than the ones we’ve listed below, but today we’re only showing those that have seen a reduction in their standard rental prices.

Great to see their prices be more competitive for their service.
Should note that their 80/20 package is now £36 was £34
Do these new prices apply to existing customers?
hmm well aquiss could do with working out if I’m in a fibre area or not. (Their checker tells people they are, when they aren’t) phone em up and it’s like a bunch of headless chickens running around. None of them has any sensory input connected to the outside world. None of them know what is going on in their own company.
Hamish, I don’t want to call out your comment as a bit fabricated, but our checker does not present FTTP information at all. We manually check everything against Openreach systems, so it’s mirroring what they are reporting. As for headless chickens, two members of my team focus on FTTP, neither of them are headless and neither are chickens, but they do know the product inside out.
I can only presume you are mixing us up with some other company or having a comical moment of making up a story :/
Martin. You’re right. I sincerely apologise but I confused your company with arqiva. I am deeply sorry and embarrassed, if I could remove my comment I would.
@Martin
Any particular reason why you don’t offer a real time checker on your website? Surely it would mean less donkey work for your staff?
@Skinny Pete
We do for ADSL/FTTC, but with FTTP, at present the data from Openreach is often so badly missing information, that for us we have found manual checks (ie: looking up and down a road/location) highlights lots of correctable data. About 10% of our FTTP orders are ones where data says no, but manual checking, we can see it’s a yes.
Hi Martin, out of interest do you have a feel for how soon after Openreach install a CBT it is possible to place an FTTP order?
I last made a query with you about FTTP in late April, we’ve now had a CBT installed on our pole but I don’t want to hassle you and your team if there is no chance for x number of weeks!
I suspect this may be a ‘how long is a piece of string’ type question and answer. Experiences do vary.. a lot.

@slurmsmckenzie Reply to any tickets we have sent you in the past and we will have a look for you.
I’m afraid to say although Aquiss are a good honest ISP and Martin is always around to help, even with these latest prices they still aren’t competitive 🙁 so as much as I would prefer to give Martin my money rather than the big ISPs I just can’t do it 🙁
They are not meant to be competitive with the big providers.
We’ve compared over 20 Openreach FTTP ISPs and the average price for Gigabit is £57.26 so they are on that level, actually they are below the average price on their top 3 packages now.
Thanks for your personal feedback, but I’m not sure the perception is inline with published prices. I think we hold up pretty well across the Openreach network based providers? A selection below:
Aquiss 900 – £47.50 (12 months) – Taking into account our offer)
BT 900 – £55.99 (24 months)
Sky 900 – £55.00 (18 months)
Zen 900 £59.99 + £19.99 setup (14 months)
TalkTalk 900 – £49.00 (24 months)
@Martin
Not everyone wants or can pay for 900Mbp.
Going through a cashback website I can get a Sky Ultrafast (150Mbps) service for just over £27 a month how do you compare with that currently as I really want to be proved wrong.
Remember Sky is a large company and can subsidize their broadband earnings with TV etc.
At least with Aquiss your price will stay the same, better and more technical support.
And probably pays staff better than Sky.
Great Timing! Openreach have been working in the pit feeding my house in the last few days installing FTTP – soon as its available to order I’ll be going with Aquiss’s top package.
