Network builder Netomnia – supported by UK broadband ISP partner YouFibre – has today announced that their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP / XGS-PON) network is being extended to cover homes and businesses in the Lincolnshire (England) town of Grantham.
The operator intends to invest up to £7 million in order to reach 24,000 premises across the area. The build itself will, once again, be delivered via their established civil engineering partners at Light Source. A quick look at the local build plans suggests that their first deployments will take place around the Barrowby Gate area, with some other build occurring near the town’s central area.
Netomnia, which has so far secured £418 million in funding and already covers over 130,000 premises across various UK towns (estimated build rate of 15,000 premises per month), currently aims to reach 1 million homes and businesses by the end of 2023.
As usual, the operator won’t be the only gigabit-capable network in the town, with Openreach also targeting the area and Virgin Media (VMO2) having already deployed to most premises.
Jeremy Chelot, CEO of Netomnia, said:
“It’s brilliant to be rolling out our multi-gigabit network in Grantham, providing a major boost for residents who will soon have a network they can rely on. Light Source has been fantastic in supporting us as we rapidly build a new full fibre broadband network to thousands of homes and businesses across the UK.”
The service itself is typically supplied to consumers via YouFibre, which offers unlimited usage, symmetrical speeds, a Wi-Fi router, free installation and 24/7 UK based support. Customers pay from just £22 per month on an 18-month term for their unlimited 50Mbps package, which rises to £45 if you want their top 900Mbps plan (£50 thereafter).
The provider is currently also offering 6 months of free service on their fastest two packages and 3 months free on their slowest two.
