Mobile operator Vodafone has upgraded their existing ‘Trade-In Tool‘ to include a new “unbeatable price promise“, which they claim will “guarantee customers the best price for their current smartphone” vs any other mobile network’s trade-in price (excluding promotions) for eligible devices.
The operator’s upgraded Trade-In Tool also gives customers an instant and “guaranteed quote” while their phone is still in their hand using the My Vodafone app (i.e. no need to go into a store for an evaluation), although they do still understandably expect the returned device to be in a “good working condition“.
However, if you can’t complete all of the tool’s checks, then you won’t be eligible for their Trade-in Guarantee. But you may still be able to trade in for a cash payment. Vodafone claim that they’ll “accept almost any phone that meets our basic criteria for Trade-in Guarantee“, but the only way to find out for sure is by completing the checks.
Max Taylor, Vodafone UK’s Consumer Director, said:
“People across the UK are understandably extremely value-conscious right now, but we know many still want to get their hands on the latest tech. So for anyone thinking about getting a new smartphone, we urge them to consider trading in with Vodafone as we can guarantee they won’t get a better price for their current device anywhere else.
Getting better value for your current smartphone means that you’ll be able to get the latest handset at a more affordable price, saving you money at a time when it’s really needed.”
According to the press release, Vodafone’s “Unbeatable Trade-In” offer will end on 15th September 2022, although confusingly their website gives a different date – 23rd September 2022. Suffice to say, this seems a bit like they’re testing the waters, before possibly making a longer commitment.
However, if you don’t mind the extra admin / costs and your device is in a good condition, then you’d probably get more money by selling it via eBay or similar platforms.
We are told that we are wasting too much, and then we get companies like Vodafone who wants people to update their phone every couple of years and the people wonder why I think all this sustainability and saving the earth is a total waste of time.
i keep my phones as long as I can until they stop working,
Pretty much the same here. I keep my mobiles until they stop receiving security updates. Usually for 3 years (Pixel) then I give it away to someone who need them, they are in excellent condition.
Pretty much dude. Eveything with corparate ties these days is all a money making process, rather than a sustainable and greenr future.
Agreed.
My Note 20 Ultra 5G 256GB in excellent condition has been valued at £58.75.
I agree that that trade in price is “unbeatable“
Shocking tbh
