Air Broadband, which offers ultrafast and gigabit speed internet access packages via various different Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) networks across the United Kingdom, has today announced it can now service over 1 million homes and businesses (up from 250,000 before). But today’s news is mainly focused on CityFibre.
The provider is one of several in the market that can sell services over lots of different full fibre networks (e.g. CityFibre, FullFibre Ltd, MS3, OFNL, Prime Fibre, Lila [VXFIBER], Connect Fibre and Gigaclear), albeit with the caveat that all of these different networks also result in different package features, contract terms and prices.
The new announcement appears to reflect the expansion of AirBB’s coverage on CityFibre’s network, which previously only served a number of their locations including across Derby, Hull, London, Cambridge, Lowestoft, Nottingham, Ipswich, Derby and Gloucester. But they’ve since added more, such as York, Swindon, Christchurch and Norwich – plus “everywhere in between” to extend the ISP’s reach to over 1 million properties.

Andrew Glover, Air Broadband CEO, said:
“We are extremely proud to expand our wonderful, reliable full fibre broadband services across the nation to many areas previously left behind by traditional copper connection broadband services. Our incredible speeds, great value prices, TV offerings and our Social tariff means that great broadband is available and accessible to everyone, every home and every business in the UK.
As the most connected full fibre internet service provider in the UK we are proving that full fibre broadband access has now been democratised in the UK, released from the grasp of traditional incumbents who hike prices in times of the national cost of living crisis and never support customers when they need it, to build a new model of internet service for homes and businesses in all parts of the UK that gives you the homeowner or business the control over this home utility you deserve.
We bring the type of broadband and Wi Fi services that were previously only available in offices of big city locations and provide it to anyone who wants a better standard of service and support for all their entertainment and work-from-home needs.”
Related packages on the CityFibre platform are priced from £28 per month for an unlimited 200Mbps (symmetric speed) plan on an 18-month term with free installation, which rises to £45 for their top 1Gbps tier. You also get a free router. In addition, the provider offers a 100Mbps social tariff for those on benefits, which costs from £20 per month.
They have outdated postcode DB for at least 1 year.
The CEO’s statement makes any postcode checker redundant.
“Our incredible speeds, great value prices, TV offerings and our Social tariff means that great broadband is available and accessible to everyone, every home and every business in the UK.”
Unless, of course, that’s not true.
