Rural broadband ISP Quickline has announced that they’re creating a new 16-strong infrastructure Build Team, which will be tasked with helping the operator to accelerate their deployment of a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based “ultrafast broadband” network across North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Lincolnshire in England.
From installing track, cabling and splicing to making fibre connections live in local areas, the team will play an integral role in Quickline’s mission to provide “broadband for the better” to communities which have been left behind in the drive to improve access to the internet across the UK.
The Build Team will primarily support Quickline’s hybrid network rollout in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Once the infrastructure is in place, the project will be handed over to the operator’s Network Team to complete connections to homes and businesses. Jobs available in the new Build Team include civil operatives, cablers and splicers. Supervisor and manager roles are also being sought.
The operator is currently being supported by a £500m investment from Northleaf Capital Partners, which acquired the company last year and is helping to fuel their future plans to cover 500,000 UK premises in rural and semi-rural areas with “ultrafast broadband” via a mix of Full Fibre (FTTP) and 5G based FWA (wireless) infrastructure (here).
Chris Akrill, Head of Fibre Operations at Quickline, said:
“Having our own dedicated Build Team will give us even more capacity and flexibility to roll out our gigabit capable broadband network to even more rural communities.
We’ve got an ambitious target at Quickline to build our next generation broadband network to over half a million homes and businesses by 2025. To do that, we need an effective and robust team.
We’re looking for talented individuals to join us on our exciting journey. Please get in touch with us if you’re interested in any of the roles available.”
Customers looking to hop on to this new network can expect to pay from £35 inc. VAT per month (£25 under the current discount) for an unlimited 100Mbps (50Mbps upload) service on a 24-month contract with free setup, which rises to £65 per month (£55 on discount) for their top 900Mbps (450Mbps upload) package. You also get an included router.
Why do Yorkshire people need t’internet? they can’t read anyway.
