Last month we reported that TalkTalk had become the latest UK ISP to adopt Strategic Imperatives’ new Fibre Café connectivity aggregation platform (here), and today BT Wholesale has also been added to the growing list of providers available via the platform.
The platform is essentially designed to tackle the significant integration and automation challenges for broadband ISPs when onboarding new networks (e.g. common processes, a national availability checker, AltNet agnostic order journeys and a unified interface etc.), whilst enabling such operators to more easily bring their wholesale propositions to market.
In that sense, today’s development should help to streamline access to BTWholesale’s products and services through the Fibre Café unified interface (specifically their ‘Broadband One’ suite of products, as well as those offered by the group’s B2B gateway), while allowing ISPs that are already connected to access BTW’s services without the need for any further development or infrastructure investment.

Gavin Jones, BT Wholesale’s Channel Partners Director, said:
“The Fibre Cafe strengthens our ongoing relationship with Strategic Imperatives, supporting how BT Wholesale caters to different customer needs, from network operators to system integrators and channel partners, we know that one size does not fit all. That’s why we are pleased to interface into the Fibre Café, empowering customers who are constrained by a lack of resources whilst managing conflicting priorities, making it quicker and easier to access the UK’s largest fibre network and unlock the power of full-fibre connectivity.”
End.
Very interesting. Hmmm. I wonder what discounts they can provide to ISPs or will this become an expensive API service that is adopted and abandoned in a few years
