Foresight Group-backed UK ISP Connect Fibre (Fibre Assets), which aspires to cover 100,000 premises across the East of England with their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network, has today become the latest alternative network to launch their own pay TV product powered by Netgem’s IPTV platform.
Netgem has already been adopted by a number of UK AltNets. The set-top-boxes that they provide – Netbox 4K (inc. HDR, bluetooth pairing, Ethernet, WiFi, USB and Dolby Atmos sound) – tend to be similar to some of those supplied by rival video streaming companies and include the usual array of premium content (sports), apps (iPlayer, itvx, 5, UKTV play, Amazon Prime Video etc.), live TV channels (Freeview) and catch-up content.
Connect Fibre is now the 5th ISP to make use of the co-branded TV solution created by Netgem and already implemented with Origin TV, Community Fibre TV, Gibtelecom TV and TalkTalk TV. Netgem currently has over 15 ISP distribution partners including Octaplus, Inspire Telecom, and WightFibre to name a few.

Deryck Shepherd, Chief Customer Officer of Connect Fibre, said:
“Connect Fibre’s mission is to bring flawless full fibre speeds to communities that need it. Leveraging Netgem’s revolutionary platform allows us to extend the range of fuss-free services we can provide. Viewers can enjoy a full range of interactive entertainment at a fair price, and households who require a landline can move seamlessly to a modern cost-effective service.
We couldn’t be more excited about this partnership, and I’m really looking forward to working with Sylvain and his team.”
Customers of the service can add the new TV solution to their package for an extra £8 per month, which includes the Alexa compatible TV box, 125 extra channels on top of Freeview, 40+ apps, 100,000 hours of on-demand content and more.
Residential broadband packages, without TV, tend to start from £25 per month for a symmetric speed 50Mbps plan (inc. free setup and a WiFi 6 router), which rises to £45 for their top 1000Mbps tier and a promise of “no mid-contract price increases“. Plus, there’s a 50Mbps social tariff for those on state benefits at £20 per month.
Have one of these from Wight Fibre. Such an awful box, can’t see how this adds any value to the ISP. No Netflix, Now TV or Disney it’s just a paperweight with freeview 🙁
I remember the days when a internet provider used to be just that and maybe landline. I said it before, all I want is an Internet connection.
Put all my eggs in one basket once before, not doing that again. I can’t see zzoomm offering any other service to be honest
