Network access provider Openreach (BT) today claims to have launched a “game changer” new Ethernet product – OSA 100G Single (Optical Spectrum Access), which is designed to provide businesses or broadband ISPs with a dedicated, secure and always-on 100Gbps fibre optic data link that comes at a fairly attractive price point.
The OSA 100G Single product is designed to offer symmetrical point-to-point Ethernet links at 100GE (Gigabits per second), or alternatively 10 separate channels at 10GE (Gigabit Ethernet), and all for a starting wholesale price of £863 +vat per month, when blending the connection and annual rental.
The service also features “slimmed down” product options to help create a solution that is easier to understand, consume and manage.

Simon Williams, Head of Optical Products, said:
“Demand for 100G point-to-point managed services in the access network is on the rise, supporting the growing demand for services like corporate cloud applications housed in both private and public data centres, as the size and regularity of the their data transfers continue to grow.
Based on our own research we believe that this offering will move 100G into the access market at a price that enables Communications Providers to compete more keenly by leaving them significant commercial headroom to add their own service wrap and ISP layer whilst still challenging current retail pricing.”
Related costing can be found on Openreach’s OSA price list. The new service is based off ADTRAN’s scalable, open FSP 3000 optical transport technology.
UPDATE:
Confirmed that this is using ADTRAN’s technology – see above.
About time BT’s prices came down – 1Gbps is almost double what providers such as Daisy and Neo Networks can offer but this is cheaper than both. Over 60 months it reads to me as no connection charges and £6450 PA for 10GB which is 545 a month for 10Gbps – Ex vat obviously. But last time I asked I was quoted £1259 a month for that on BT net – and over Neo Networks it was something lie £840.. Seems to imply you could take 10Gbps from them only? Or is it per line and you must have 10 lines? I would be interested in this if it’s the former when my deal comes up next Fe for sure!
Article specifies its 100Gig so quite a bit more than others suppliers. A decent speed for that price id say
You’d be paying for the full 100Gbp/s irregardless but can have it go to either a single site (site A to site B) or to 10 different locations (site A to; B, C, D, and so on).
This is really designed for ISP’s to buy. Unless that is who you are (or what you want to be) then this is not the product/service for you. You would need to get an ethernet/leased line service from somebody else
Sounds like you’re confusing BTnet retail “leased line” DIA products and similar products from other ISPs with an Openreach point-to-point product. This article isn’t about what BT sell leased line connections for.

Not 100g split to 10 multiple sites just to a single site
“We can then configure these different wavelengths to support different protocols and carry different data”
Ah fair enough – thanks for the clarification. I was getting excited thinking 10Gbps was cheap! – I should have known better.
There’s a £20k connection charge whatever the term.
I used to be a regular reader of ispreview. Now I have to manually go through an obnoxious amout of cookie preferences to disable tracking. Until this has been improved, I’m not going to use the site. Here’s a video of how bad it is https://photos.app.goo.gl/wnQbgEjpseknAzrW7
