Wireless ISP Wifinity, which typically specialises in deploying WiFi style networks, has moved to accelerate their UK expansion by gobbling offshore Wi-Fi systems provider Vital WiFi for an undisclosed sum. The move will enable them to reach into a new and particularly challenging area of remote internet connectivity.
Wifinity delivers connectivity to people where ordinary broadband often doesn’t reach, including rural and remote locations such as military bases and holiday parks. The latest acquisition expands their services into new offshore sectors, including traditional and renewable energy platforms and commercial shipping. All of this follows the business’ LDC-backed management buyout in September 2021.
Hampshire-based Vital WiFi installed its first system in 2012 and its internet solutions have since been used by millions of people all over the world. But it should be noted that Vital WiFi also crosses into some of the same areas as Wifinity, such as by supplying holiday parks, as well as hotels and retail sites. The company has also served some sites using 60GHz wireless technology (802.11ay) to deliver gigabit broadband speeds.

We’re thrilled that they’ve joined us. The acquisition provides a unique opportunity to expand into new, complimentary markets, while gaining a raft of new product features and industry expertise to help drive our continued growth in the UK and now offshore.”
Joe Burnell, Founder of Vital WiFi, added:
“Joining the Wifinity Group is an incredibly important milestone for us as a team and reflects the quality proposition we’ve developed. The further expertise and resources now available to us as part of the Group will undoubtedly enable us to further strengthen our offering for our customers and reach a broader audience.”
End.
