Virgin Media O2 UK Offer Free Access to AI Search Engine Perplexity Pro

Customers of Virgin Media and O2’s various broadband, mobile, phone and TV packages may like to know that their ‘Priority’ app, which rewards existing subscribers with various special offers and discounts, is now allowing access to AI-powered tool ‘Perplexity Pro‘ at no extra cost for one year (normally £150 per year).

The AI-powered research and search assistant is said to enable users to harness technology to make their life and work a little easier. But whereas a normal search will just share a list of links to different websites, Perplexity provides clearer answers with trusted, in-line citations and uses modern AI models to provide detailed answers.

Perplexity Pro also allows consumers to choose between the latest advanced AI models, including Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Sonnet, OpenAI’s GPT-4 Omni, and Perplexity’s Sonar model (built on Meta’s LlaMa 3.1). But you’ll only be able to get this free service between now and May 2025.

Lisa Johnstone, VMO2’s Director of Priority, Loyalty & Reward, said: “With more and more of us embracing AI to improve the way we work, shop and travel, the technology is becoming helpful in everyday digital life and we’re here to help our members navigate it with confidence. Whether our members want to plan a holiday or save money on their weekly shopping list, our new Perplexity Pro reward is like having an expert in your pocket to find the best deals and manage day-to-day needs. And save members over £150 in the process.”

Maybe they should lower their prices instead of mucking around with rubbish like this and a Priority app. People prefer lower prices than stupid rewards.
That goes for all providers that do the same thing.
That was one of the things that annoy me about BT, we will give, you this, we give you that just lower your prices

I’ll be honest, nothing sells me on Priority as it is anyways.

Nowhere near as good as it used to be and frankly, it’s only useful if you’re a regular concert viewer. £1 Greggs or some PizzaExpress discounts isn’t really enough to convince me here, when Vodafone offers much more rewards on VeryMe.

The corporate answer would be they have fantastic, competitive prices already. Move along, nothing to see.

In reality £78 for asymmetric GIG1 only out of new customer pricing is a complete rip-off.

VM don’t like simple price models. It’s a system of haggling to re-contract, to make you FEEL you got value even thought he list price is ridiculous. Muddy the waters with value-add. They love VOLT because that is TWO price increases per year – one for mobile, one for broadband. Customers usually only see the first year pricing as a new customer without realising both under VOLT would increase quickly. They also dosh out speed upgrades for a few £ to existing customers, just enough to entice you in, then the price increase coming ahead is now calculated at the new speed tier pricing.

I wish I could move from Virgin, but it’s the only cable provider out here in the sticks of County Durham. For example, BT speed is 36Mbps maximum, 9 upload, when I have 953 down and 105 up with VM02.

I love the Perplexity app! Thank you, O2!

Finally, a decent deal on O2 Priority!!! When’s there going to be a perk with ChatGPT!!

Brilliant! At last, we’re getting answers instead of just links! Thank you, O2—great promotion!
