The shortlist for the fourth annual UK Fibre Awards event, which is due to take place next month (5th June 2025) at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel, has recently been released. The event sees various broadband ISPs and full fibre network builders across several categories pick up awards for their achievements.
The event, which appears to be quite similar to many existing industry award ceremonies (e.g. the ISPA Awards and Connected Britain), is currently being backed by telecoms / ICT centric media and event organisation firm BPL Business Media. Last year’s (2024) event saw Wildanet picking the award for ‘Best Rural Fibre Provider‘ and Brsk being named ‘Best Urban Fibre Provider‘, among others.
The winners for each category are typically chosen by a judging panel of six industry and IT experts (here), including various senior managers, analysts and so forth. But there’s not much to reflect the consumer perspective in this group, and no technical testing is performed.

It’s refreshing to see the same names within most of the categories.
Especially when they have been making significant redundancies or have capex/opex constraints.
If only ISP review managed to obtain how much each nominee has paid for a table at the awards … as it’s not free…

Table of 10
£3250.00
I laugh at best company to work for Wessex Internet from personal experience it’s far from it and the high turnover of staff will show you it’s 100% not the best!
I admire the altnet that serves my street even more for not wasting money on this.
God knows how or why County Broadband have been nominated in two categories!! They are truly awful at everything they do. Wonder why Truespeed haven’t been nominated at all….hmmm!
When you see only two providers in the Service Delivery Team of the year category, it really shows how confident the rest really are in their service…
But we’ve only had 4 months of 2025, how can they be judged on the 1st Q alone? Surely these should be the results of 2024 performance?
What on earth do they get at £325/head, a £25 pound meal and a lot of cash to the organisers?
Mark should hold a virtual event dish out awards online. Charge £50 per head and send them each a bag of popcorn to eat while they watch. Base the awards on some real tangible measurements and customer feedback and make them actually meaningful.
No Wightfibre????
