Eastbourne-based broadband ISP Lightning Fibre, which is deploying a multi-gigabit speed full fibre (FTTP) network across parts of Sussex + Kent in England (140,000 premises) and also holds a partnership to harness CityFibre’s wider UK network (here), has today announced that they’ve appointed a new CEO in the shape of Bertrand Mazieres.
In case anybody has forgotten, Lighting Fibre has been without a full permanent CEO since the department of company founder Ben Ferriman. The company instead appointed Stefan Stanislawsk in July 2023 to act as an interim CEO until they could find a replacement (here).
The good news today is that Bertrand Mazieres has agreed to take on the post of CEO from 5th May 2026. Bertrand will join the South Coast alternative network after a 10-year career at Openreach, where he was the Director of Commercial and Marketing.

Tim Passingham, Chairman of Lightning Fibre, said:
“This is a fantastic next step for Bertrand and we’re delighted to have him join the team. We have taken our time to find the right person who is ready to step into the CEO role, and who has both the energy and aptitude to take Lightning Fibre on its next phase of growth.”

How the mighty have fallen!
Congratulations, Bertrand.
If you could pop up to Haywards Heath and clear up all the fly posting on street furniture and repair the sunken trenches from Lightning Fibre’s abandoned roll out, that would be great.
