Finance network Klarna adds free unlimited 5G mobile plan for UK Max users
Digital payment provider Klarna have today announced that existing UK members of their Max tier can now sign-up for an unlimited 4G and 5G mobile (mobile broadband) phone plan in their app “at no additional cost when switching over an existing number“, which makes them the latest in a string of finance and banking organisations to launch an eSIM style mobile plan.
The Klarna Mobile service says it offers unlimited data, calls and texts, plus 20GB of monthly global roaming, and can be cancelled anytime, meaning it doesn’t need a 24-month commitment like many incumbents enforce. But you do of course need to be taking their Max plan first, which itself already costs £44.99 a month.
For those who may be unfamiliar, the Max plan reflects a collection that bundles including cashback (1.5% on purchases, with 4x cashback at featured stores), travel perks (e.g. unlimited airport lounge access), travel / car rental insurance, no foreign exchange fees, and 18 service subscriptions (worth £2,640 a year) into one plan with a payment card.

However, as above, the Max plan has now also added a mobile plan into that mix. Klarna claims that “comparable unlimited 5G plans from legacy UK networks cost about £40 a month, sometimes more“, although you can also take such mobile plans for less than that from a few other providers.
Daniel Lange, Klarna VP of Product and Consumer Rewards, said:
“Mobile is one of the biggest recurring bills for UK households, so we wanted to zero it for our members. An unlimited plan with no contract at no extra cost makes a Klarna Max membership a no-brainer, let alone the cashback, subscriptions and travel perks.”
The new eSIM mobile plan appears to be powered by Vodafone’s UK network.
