Internet provider BT has cut the monthly price of their standard (up to 17Mbps ADSL2+) Unlimited Broadband package to just £5 per month and their superfast (up to 38Mbps FTTC) Unlimited Infinity 1 service has also been reduced to £10 per month. New customers will also get a BT Reward Card worth between £50 and £100.

Budget ISP Plusnet has followed last week’s price rise announcement (here) by offering their ‘up to’ 38Mbps FTTC based “Unlimited Fibre Broadband” service free for the first 6 months of service (£14.99 a month thereafter), although you still have to pay for line rental on top.

Mobile operator FreedomPop, which entered the UK market last year by offering a free 4G mobile SIM with 200MB of data, 200 texts and 200 minutes, has today added a new paid SIM that gives subscribers unlimited calls, texts and 10GB of Mobile Broadband data for just £9.99 per month with no contract.

The latest HTTP Archive statistics, which collects and analyses the World Wide Webs (WWW) digitised content, has confirmed that the average web (website) page size is now 2.3MB (MegaBytes) and that’s up from 1.95MB one year ago and 0.7MB five years ago.

Cable operator Virgin Media has cut an extra £1 off its broadband and phone discounts and extended how long they last for from 6 to 12 months. The reductions only apply to bundles and so you still have to pay line rental from £15.33 per month (when pre-paid for 1 year) or £17.99 as standard.

But equally there are times when it may have the opposite impact, which is something we’re starting to see in the TV content market and if left unchecked there is a risk that it may push consumers into the more accessible arms of Internet piracy.

The B4RN inspired and community backed Fibre for Rural Nottinghamshire (F4RN) project, which aims to roll-out a 100Mbps broadband service to the rural Nottinghamshire (England) villages of Fiskerton and Morton (Fiskerton-cum-Morton), has managed to raise £84,250 to fuel its effort.

Mobile operator EE has slashed the price of their 4G SIM-Only Mobile Broadband data plan from £30 to £15 per month, which comes with 25GB (GigaBytes) of monthly allowance.

Mobile operator Three UK has launched a new pay-as-you-go Mobile Broadband tablet SIM today that gives customers 200MB of free 3G and 4G data every month alongside the pre-loaded allowance of 1GB (1000MB), regardless of whether you top-up again.

Internet provider TalkTalk has today become the latest to launch a new batch of discounts for Christmas, which are being headlined by the offers of 18 months free unlimited broadband (up to 17Mbps) or 12 months free unlimited “Superfast Fibre Broadband” (up to 38Mbps FTTC).

UK ISP TalkTalk will today join the “Black Friday” bandwagon by slashing the cost of their standard Phone Line Rental to £8.85 per month for 12 months (£17.70 thereafter), which is in addition to all of their existing discounts on fixed line home broadband and TV bundles.

BT has today prepared for Black Friday by cutting the price of both their unlimited ‘up to’ 17Mbps broadband and 38Mbps BTInfinity packages, while also throwing in a prepaid MasterCard (worth £50 to £100), a £50 Love2shop voucher and reducing the BTSport Pack contract to just 30 days.

BT will today make a few small adjustments to the prices of their 4G based consumer mobile phone service (BTMobile), which will see some SIM-only tariffs go up in price and others being reduced.

BT has today reintroduced their earlier summer discounts, which means that unlimited standard (up to 17Mbps) and superfast (up to 38Mbps BTInfinity) broadband packages have been cut to just £5 and £10 per month respectively. Sainsbury’s shopping vouchers worth up to £125 have also been added.
