BT Etc EV UK Car Charger

Telecoms giant BT, specifically their awkwardly named UK digital incubation team, Etc., has today “powered up” their first Electric Vehicle (EV) charger under a 2-year pilot, which is one of potentially tens of thousands that could be established by repurposing Openreach’s old fixed broadband street cabinets.

Mobile operator and ISP Vodafone UK has today announced the launch of both a new ‘Power Hub‘ router for their home broadband packages and a complementary new ‘Super Wi-Fi 6 Booster‘ device to help improve home wireless connectivity. New customers, joining from today, on any standard plan will receive the Power Hub router.

Network operator and ISP Brsk, which is deploying a new gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across the West Midlands and North West of England (rollout plan), has revealed that they’ve now passed a key milestone by expanding to cover half a million homes (up from 450,000 on 2nd March 2024).

As a result, some of the recent changes made to AVM’s device firmware will be rolled back.

But it now seems like the provider is preparing to launch a replacement solution with the help of ONSIM.

The UK Government has this morning announced that new laws, which are designed to help protect consumers from cyber criminals, such as by requiring that network devices, like broadband ISP routers, receive greater protection (e.g. regular security updates and stronger default passwords), have finally come into force.

Network operator Openreach (BT) officially launched their fastest Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband tiers – 1.2Gbps and 1.8Gbps (both 120Mbps upstream) – into the UK market earlier this month (here). But so far the only ISP to launch any consumer packages using these have been EE, although that will soon change.
