Rural broadband ISP Gigaclear, which has already covered 360,000 premises (up from 300,000 in May 2022) across rural parts of England with their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network, has today announced that they’ve expanded into Derbyshire and aim to cover a total of more than 25,000 premises in the county.

Network builder and UK ISP Upp has today confirmed that they’ve started rolling out their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to premises (homes and business) across the Norfolk town of King’s Lynn. But we’ve also managed to pull the full rollout plan (so far) from their website.

Budget UK ISP Plusnet, which is part of the BT Group, appears to have now officially stopped taking on new SME (small and medium-sized) business customers. A message on their website confirms that the products are “no longer available” and instead directs new customers to take up packages directly with BT.

Consumer and wholesale broadband provider TalkTalk has today announced that they’ve agreed a new “strategic partnership” with Telecom Acquisitions Ltd, which manages a multitude of broadband ISP brands and products (e.g. Home Telecom, Fleur Telecom, Hive Telecom and Eclipse Broadband).

Cityfibre has today announced that their huge £270 million rollout of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network across Glasgow (Scotland) is being extended into the Clydebank area, which will be supported by a new civil engineering contractor – local company IMS Scotland.

Mobile operator EE (BT) has today announced that they’ve extended the coverage of their ultrafast 5G based (mobile broadband) network to more than 150 new locations across the United Kingdom, including various Christmas markets and places such as Kettering, Carlisle, Portlethen and Merthyr Tydfil etc.

Openreach (BT) has reportedly informed its suppliers that their need to curb costs and get more “bang for its buck” will impact the UK rollout of their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network, which will “include an element of cancellation or suspension” of some work and have a “financial impact“.

A complaint raised by EE (BT) has prompted the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) to ban a website banner and press advert for broadband and mobile provider Vodafone, which were both found to have made a “misleading” claim of being “the UK’s Reliable, Award-winning network“.

New data from Ookla, which operates the popular broadband ISP and mobile network speed testing service – Speedtest.net, claims to have today revealed the top fastest 5G handsets in the UK for mobile broadband speed. Interestingly, they’re all Apple iPhones.

Energy and communications provider Telecom Plus, which trades as UW (Utility Warehouse), has published their latest biannual (H1 FY23) report and revealed that they ended the period with 341,392 broadband ISP customers (up by 17,769 in the last 6 months) and 364,062 mobile customers (up by 39,289).

Blackburn-based network operator IX Wireless, which is building a new fixed wireless broadband network for UK ISP 6G Internet (not related to 6G mobile technology), has been hit with a small fine in the Greater Manchester market town of Bury (specifically the suburb of Brandlesholme) after they built unauthorised digital infrastructure.

Data traffic flowing through the London Internet Exchange (LINX) has today hit another record level – peaking at 7.424Tbps (Terabits per second) at 3:10pm – on the back of England’s first FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 match against Iran, which saw the three lions walk away with a 6-2 win.

Openreach (BT) has today announced that they’ve doubled the number of customers they’ve connected, via various different UK ISPs, to their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in Northern Ireland from 100,000 to 200,000 in the space of a year.
