The Government has today confirmed that they will add two new duties to the Online Safety Bill (OSB), which will act to crackdown on the anonymous online abuse that occurs on the largest social networks. The wider bill also tasks Ofcom with tackling “harmful” internet content through website bans, fines and other sanctions.

The state aid supported Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) broadband rollout programme has today issued an update on their £6m Fibre Extension Programme (FEP) contract with Openreach, which was originally due to complete by the end of 2021 but is still ongoing and has been extended to cover a further 100 homes.

Broadband ISP Virgin Media UK (VMO2) has today confirmed that their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network has, for the first time, been made available to over 17,000 homes in the Cricklewood area of London. Some 3,000 homes in Castleford (West Yorkshire) have also been added.

The 2022 Internet Accessibility Index has just been published by comparison site Broadband Choices, which ranks 164 countries and territories on the quality of their broadband and mobile infrastructure to find the world’s most connected countries. Mobile operator and broadband ISP Vodafone UK has today unveiled new changes that aim to encourage customers to repair, trade-in and recycle their old mobiles. In addition, the operator’s programme of refurbishing and reusing fixed line routers and TV boxes in Germany, Portugal and Spain will be “expanded to further markets.”
