The University of Surrey has launched the UK’s first 6th Generation Innovation Centre (6GIC), which will act as a “global research hub” to help develop future 6G based mobile broadband tech. Apparently this could take an “entirely new approach” from the tradition of pushing ever-higher data rates over ever-higher spectrum bands.

16th July, 2020 (13 Comments)

South Korean tech giant Samsung has published a new White Paper that sets out its aspiration for a future 6th generation (6G) of mobile broadband technology, which among other things targets internet data speeds of 1Tbps (Terabits per second) and latency times of just 100 microseconds. Good luck with that.

23rd March, 2015 (0 Comments)

At present the next generation of 5G based Mobile Broadband networks haven’t even been defined and the first commercial services aren’t expected to surface until around 2020. But that hasn’t stopped the Government from putting an early investment towards the distant future 6th Generation (6G) replacement for 5G. Well, sort of.
