CityFibre UK has today confirmed that they will soon start work on their £34 million project to deploy a gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across the Berkshire (England) towns of Bracknell (£20m) and Maidenhead (£14m), with both being expected to reach completion during 2024.

Alternative broadband ISP Trooli, which is currently deploying their 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across rural parts of Kent, Hampshire and East Sussex in England, has hit a new milestone after their deployment reached 70,000 premises (up from 50,000 in Nov 2020 and 26,000 in Jun 2020).

A new trial conducted by broadband ISP Virgin Media UK (Liberty Global) has harnessed a prototype of Infinera XR Optics technology in its existing network, which they claim could potentially deliver multi-gigabit speeds to customers by boosting symmetric transfer rates up to 400Gbps in a single fibre.

UK ISP Swish Fibre, which is working to deploy a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to cover 250,000 premises in the Home Counties, has signed an agreement with civil engineering firm MGM Utilities that will see them extend into Gerrards Cross and Bourne End (South Buckinghamshire).

Alternative UK ISP Call Flow Solutions has decided to adopt the same branding as its sibling, Trooli, which is currently rolling out a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband service across rural parts of Kent and East Sussex in England. New regions are also being targeted for their network expansion.

Broadband ISP Swish Fibre, which is building a new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network for 250,000 premises across the Home Counties of England, has today agreed a new partnership with telecoms specialist Trenches Law to help tackle the pile of wayleave agreements that such work tends to attract.

Cityfibre has announced that their plan to rollout a new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network across the large UK town of Reading (Berkshire), the city of Gloucester (Gloucestershire) and Plymouth (Devon), costing £58m, £31m and £52m respectively, is due to begin in January 2021.

Broadband ISP Swish Fibre, which is currently building a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to cover 250,000 premises across the Home Counties of England, has moved to match B4RN’s example (here) by conducting a real-world speed test of their XGSPON based platform – hitting 7.68Gbps download.

Cityfibre UK has today announced that they’ve commenced build on their £24 million project to deploy a new gigabit broadband capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTH) network across the Berkshire town of Slough, which is being supported by civil engineering firm VolkerSmart Technologies.

A new company called Broadreach Networks has just thrown its hat into the increasingly crowded ring of operator’s that all intend to build gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband networks, but this one seems to be less of an ISP and more of a wholesale provider – with a focus upon smaller towns.

After a bit of a delay it appears as if rural UK ISP Gigaclear is finally starting to make some solid progress on their state aid supported contract in East Berkshire, which over the last nine months has laid 55km of new fibre to help cover 4,300 premises with their 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network.

Cityfibre UK has today revealed the first solid details of their plan to deploy a new “gigabit-capable” Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTH) based broadband ISP network across the towns of Slough (Berkshire) and Swindon (Wiltshire), which will involve a commercial investment of £24m and £40m respectively.

New ISP Swish Fibre, which last year began work to extend their 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to cover 250,000 premises across the Home Counties (i.e. just outside London), has today unveiled a full list of 33 poorly served towns (22 new additions) where their service is due to be rolled out next.

Rural fibre optic UK ISP Gigaclear has confirmed that their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in West Berkshire – built with support from public investment via the Superfast Berkshire project – is now nearly complete following massive delays. Some 14,000 local premises can already access the service.

Civil engineering firm Kier has today secured a new “multi-million pound” Openreach Network Services Agreement (ONSA), which is their first with the network operator. The deal will see them assisting the telecoms giant in deploying and maintaining both fibre optic and copper broadband services across Hampshire and Berkshire.

The Reading Borough Council has proposed a new agreement with UK ISP Hyperoptic that could result in them installing Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) initially to the authority’s own high-rise housing stock (subject to survey), but with the potential for further expansion to cover up to 75% of the geographic area of the Borough.
