The deputy leader of Dorset Council, Peter Wharf, this week told a cabinet meeting that he was “now going to be not so nice” to Openreach (BT), which occurred after one of their managers allegedly told the local authority that their current roll-out of “superfast broadband” (FTTC/P) was a “shambles.“

Fibre optic builder Cityfibre, which has a £4bn ambition to roll-out their 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband network to cover 8 million UK homes and businesses, has revealed that their deployment to the Dorset city of Bournemouth will be extended into Poole and Christchurch “as soon as possible.”

Fibre optic ISP Jurassic Fibre has today announced that they’ve begun construction of their new 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in Devon UK, which will initially aim to cover various rural communities between Exeter airport and along the A376 corridor to Exmouth.

A new report from Dorset’s (England) Economic Growth Committee has revealed that 97%+ of the county (including Poole and Bournemouth) should now be able to order a “superfast broadband” (24Mbps+) service from an ISP, which they say leaves 10,000+ premises spread across the county in need of an upgrade.
