Towards the end of last year Gigaclear announced a new plan to roll-out their 1000Mbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP/H) broadband network to several thousand homes and businesses in a number of rural Northamptonshire villages (East Midlands of England) by the end of 2017. The good news is that this installation work has now started.

Fibre optic ISP Gigaclear has begun construction of a new 1000Mbps (Megabits per second) capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH/P) based broadband network for approximately 1,500 premises in the rural Peterborough (England) villages of Ashton, Bainton, Barnack, Helpston, Pilsgate, Southorpe, Tallington and Ufford.

BTOpenreach’s state aid supported plans to roll-out a fibre optic cable through their existing cable ducts in order to help bring superfast broadband connectivity to parts of rural south Wiltshire in England, specifically the Dun Valley and surrounding areas, have been dealt a blow due to several key ducts being blocked by silt.

A group of eight rural villages in southern Oxfordshire (England), which includes Howe Hill, Britwell Hill, Cookley Green, Greenfield, Park Corner, Pishill with Stonor, Russells Water and Swyncombe, have clubbed together in order to launch the Connect 8 campaign that hopes to persuade BT to improve their broadband connectivity.

Gigaclear’s hope of being able to roll-out a 1000Mbps capable fibre optic (FTTP) broadband service in the small rural Northamptonshire (England) village of Ashley have been dented after BT successfully encouraged locals to raise £15,000 in order to have their slower ‘up to’ 80Mbps Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) solution installed.
