Network builder Netomnia, which is being supported by broadband ISP partner YouFibre, has today added 11,000 premises in the Gloucestershire town of Tewkesbury to the rollout plan for their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP / XGS-PON) network. Meanwhile, YouFibre has just gone live in Barry, South Wales.

Alnwick-based ISP Alncom has today announced that they plan to extend the deployment of their new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to cover a further 25,000 rural premises across parts of Northumberland, County Durham and the Scottish Borders.

Bristol-based ISP RunFibre, which is building a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across rural parts of South Gloucestershire in England, has this week announced that their deployment is being extended to cover 600 premises in the neighbouring villages of Easter Compton and Over.

The Herefordshire County Council (HCC) in England has issued a new proposal for how they intend to tackle the problems caused by UK ISP Gigaclear last month (here), which warned that 2,324 of the planned premises for their state aid fuelled rollout of a new gigabit broadband (FTTP) network would be too expensive to reach.

The collapse of UK civil engineering firm Complete Utilities this week (here), which disrupted ISP Gigaclear’s rollout of gigabit-capable broadband, resulted in around 300 staff being told via email that they no longer had a job. In response, an unspecified number of those former employees are attempting to sue the firm.

The Broadband Delivery UK team have today launched a second batch of Open Market Reviews (OMR) for additional parts of England covered by Phase 2 of the Government’s new £5bn Project Gigabit broadband roll-out.
