The collapse of UK civil engineering firm Complete Utilities this week (here), which disrupted ISP Gigaclear’s rollout of gigabit-capable broadband, resulted in around 300 staff being told via email that they no longer had a job. In response, an unspecified number of those former employees are attempting to sue the firm.

Network builder FullFibre Limited, which is working to deploy their 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across “at least” 500,000 premises by 2025, has today responded to the COP26 event by pledging to plant a tree for every new order placed for their service via Fibre Heroes.

Civil engineering firm Complete Utilities, which has been working with UK ISP Gigaclear to help build gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband networks, has suddenly ceased trading, casting doubt on existing projects. Another street works firm, NMCN, also recently went into administration – hampering CityFibre.

Network builder FullFibre Limited has today named the next batch of 19 towns in England to benefit from their rollout of a new gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network, which recently hit a build rate of 15,000 UK premises per month and aims to cover “at least” 500,000 premises by 2025.

The Broadband Delivery UK team have today launched a second batch of Open Market Reviews (OMR) for additional parts of England covered by Phase 2 of the Government’s new £5bn Project Gigabit broadband roll-out. This aims to identify any existing or planned commercial coverage by gigabit ISP networks.

The Fastershire project has revealed that UK ISP Gigaclear’s rollout of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in Herefordshire is suffering from “delivery challenges,” which without “significant additional resources” could make it difficult to reach up to 2,324 of the planned premises.

Bristol-based UK ISP RunFibre have just signed a new fibre optic supply deal with Cherry & White to help support their rollout of a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across rural parts of South Gloucestershire. On top of that they’ve agreed a new 3-year framework contract with supplier Altnets.

Lit Fibre (formerly Broadreach Networks), which aims to deploy a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to reach 500,000 UK homes by 2026, is now connecting their first customers in Wiltshire (England) and today confirmed that two towns – Cirencester and Bishop’s Stortford – will be the next to benefit.

The first customers are now starting to connect via Netomnia‘s new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in the South West England town of Cheltenham, which is being supplied via local ISP partner YouFibre as part of a £24m rollout to cover 80,000 local premises.

Alnwick-based UK rural broadband ISP Alncom and new Bristol-based ISP RunFibre have joined forces in order to extend the reach of their joint gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network, which was already available to remote parts of Northumberland and Durham, but is now growing into South Gloucestershire.
