Once again the UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has announced the official finalists for their forthcoming 18th annual 2016 Internet industry awards, which sees Vodafone leading the way with 6 nominations and BT short-listed for “Best Consumer Fixed Broadband“.

The Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has taken a look back at the number of times that “broadband” has been mentioned in Parliament since 2010 and discovered that there has been a 75% increase in references, which isn’t a surprise because that’s when Internet connectivity became a big issue.

But there were many more categories and winners.

The Regulatory Manager for UK ISP Zen Internet, Gary Hough, has criticised the Government’s efforts to introduce a new Voluntary Copyright Alert Programme (VCAP) of Internet piracy warning letters. Zen noted the distinct lack of engagement with the wider ISP industry and said that they currently had no intention of signing up to such a scheme.
