The UK Government’s new Telecommunications (Security) Bill (TSB) is set to become law after passing through both houses of parliament this month, but it goes much further than just banning Huawei from the UK’s 5G mobile networks. Broadband ISPs, both big and small alike, also face a cacophony of tedious new rules.

The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) last night unveiled the winners of their 23rd annual 2021 internet industry and broadband awards, which among other things saw B4RN walk away with the award for “Best Rural ISP“, while CommunityFibre scooped both the “Best Consumer ISP” and “Best Ultrafast ISP” awards.

The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has today unveiled a shortlist of three potential winners for the ‘Internet Hero’ category in their forthcoming 2021 industry awards, which was last year won more by all the telecoms sector’s key workers for their efforts during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has put out a request for members of the public and industry alike to submit nominations for its 2021 “Internet Hero” award, with the eventual winner being announced on 4th November 2021 at an awards ceremony in central London (Sheraton Grand Park Lane Hotel).

The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has today revealed the shortlist of finalists for this year’s 23rd annual industry awards, which sees a number of broadband ISPs receiving nominations across several categories (e.g. Exa Networks scored five nominations, while Hyperoptic and Glide both received four nominations each.

The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA), which represents 200 broadband and other internet providers within the sector (many more than this number exist), has today warned of “deep flaws” within Labour’s new proposals for broadband (here) and said that the “entire telecoms sector” is echoing similar concerns.

Andrew Glover, Chair of the UK ISPA, has told ISPreview in a new interview that a no-deal Brexit could harm both the industry’s supply chain and access to a skilled workforce. Glover also warns that DNS over HTTPS (DoH) raises a “host of security concerns” and says “considerable regulatory change” is needed to hit full fibre targets.

One embarrassment too many. The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has, at the 11th hour, decided to scrap the “Internet Villain” category from their annual industry awards event, which came after a global backlash over their decision to nominate Mozilla due to their DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) push.
