Residents in the Kent UK village of Oversland will be pleased to learn that the new Broadband for Rural Kent (B4RK) project, which initially modelled itself on B4RN’s community centric build strategy, has finally begun to go live by connecting their first house to a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network.

Orbital Net (Vfast), which operates its own Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) network in various parts of England, has finally started to deploy their own gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in rural parts of Kent and Sussex. The work is being supported by a multi-million pound investment from Mobeus.

UK ISP Virgin Media (Liberty Global) has just completed another extension of their new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based ultrafast broadband and TV network to cover 2,600 homes in the large modern village of Allington (Kent), which is home to a local population of around 7,000 people.

UK ISP Swish Fibre, which is working to deploy a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to cover 250,000 premises in the Home Counties, has signed an agreement with civil engineering firm MGM Utilities that will see them extend into Gerrards Cross and Bourne End (South Buckinghamshire).

A new ISP called Broadband for Rural Kent (B4RK), which as the name suggests is modelling itself on B4RN’s community centric build strategy, is in the process of being setup by Tim Higgs and plans to help cater for poorly served villages in the county by deploying a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network.

Fibre optic UK ISP Trooli (CallFlow) has announced that their on-going deployment of a Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based gigabit broadband network is set to expand outside of the Kent area and into East Sussex, with two of the first communities to benefit being Crowborough and Uckfield.

A new Faversham-based ISP called Yesfibre, which was only incorporated on 27th April 2020, has this week cropped up with tentative plans to roll-out a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to homes and businesses in “selected urban and suburban areas across the UK.”

UK ISP Pine Media have announced that they plan to include an additional 20,000 premises into their roll-out of gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband technology in the South Yorkshire city of Sheffield, which will see their total coverage reach 50,000.

Fixed wireless access provider Orbital Net (Vfast) and new entrant MGMT have separately today both revealed that they’re developing plans for future roll-outs of a gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network, albeit in different parts of England and Scotland. Both intend to target areas that are currently poorly served.
