Broadband ISP Lightning Fibre, which is currently deploying a Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across parts of Sussex and Kent in England, has today reduced the price of its entry-level 100Mbps residential package to £18 (until 31st Dec), launched a new 50Mbps (symmetric) social tariff and begun testing a 3Gbps package.

Residents and businesses on EE’s mobile network in the area surrounding the tiny rural hamlet and civil parish of Leaveland in Kent (England) have complained after a fault with the operator’s local mast left them without a working 4G connection, as well as a poor signal in other areas (via other masts), for two weeks and counting.

Alternative network provider Netomnia – supported by UK broadband ISP YouFibre – has today announced the start of their full fibre rollout across five new locations including Tunbridge Wells (Kent), Burntwood (Staffordshire), Morriston and Neath (South Wales), and Livingston (West Lothian, Scotland).

Network operator Cityfibre has today revealed that they’ll invest £50m to deploy their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network across “almost every home and business” in Kent’s (England) largest town of Maidstone. The first construction work is set to begin during January 2023.

Alternative network ISP Lightning Fibre, which initially aimed to cover 100,000 premises across parts of East Sussex with their gigabit-capable full fibre (FTTP) broadband infrastructure, has today announced a multi-million pound expansion of their network into West Sussex and Kent in England.

The seemingly endless campaign of copper cable thefts by increasingly brazen criminals has continued. The latest incident is one of the biggest so far, knocking out broadband and phone services for around 8,000 homes and businesses on Openreach’s (BT) UK network across Maidstone, Sutton Valance and Staplehurs in Kent.

Kent-based UK ISP Vfast (Orbital Net) has announced that they’ve finally connected their first customer – Paul from Gillingham – to CityFibre’s new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in Medway, which follows last year’s announcement (here) of their plan to join the platform.

The details remain unclear, but a “suspected” arson attack against Openreach’s (BT) network infrastructure in Staplehurst (Kent, England), which we believe occurred around mid-morning yesterday, has resulted in a loss of broadband and phone connectivity for 7,400 homes and businesses in the area.

Network operator Netomnia has today confirmed their intention to invest up to £21 million in order to extend their 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP – XGS-PON) broadband ISP network to serve around 72,000 premises across the town of Maidstone in Kent (England).

Both aim to identify which areas need state aid support for future builds.
