The Telcom Group and sibling ClearFibre have today launched yet another sub-brand broadband ISP called WeFibre, which appears to be targeting social housing and aims to deploy their 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to cover 1 million premises by the end of 2023. Better yet this speed will cost you just £20.

The CEO of rural UK full fibre ISP B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North), Barry Forde, has become the first person to sign-up to the provider’s new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) plan. The first live speed test of this produced a download speed of 8341Mbps and uploads of 6644Mbps, with latency of just 1ms.

Broadband ISP and TV operator Virgin Media have just completed a small extension of their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in the Lancashire (England) towns of Blackburn and Darwen, which now covers an additional 1,200 homes.

Businesses and some surrounding homes on the Hillhouse Technology Enterprise Zone in Wyre (Lancashire, England) look set to benefit after the local Wyre Council agreed to support a £250,000 extension (SPR-2) of the nearby Local Full Fibre Network (LFFN), which could widen the availability of gigabit broadband speeds.

Some 4,000 extra premises in the large seaside town of Blackpool, which resides on the Lancashire coast, have just been added to ISP Virgin Media’s new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based ultrafast broadband and TV network. Average speeds of 516Mbps are available to those covered, but faster services are coming.
